Full of grammatical errors and whole paragraphs repeated, which made it annoying to read. The so-called questions for a book club look like a quiz for high-school freshmen to prove they had read the book; the questions had nothing to do with any issues worth discussing, which is what a book club is about. This summary was definitely not worth one cent. Book Sense, if you are going to publish summaries, at least use spell-check, stop padding the book out by repeating whole sections of text, and at least have someone with experience of English grammar do at least cursory proofreading.

Another poorly written attempt at offering readers a concise review of the contents of a remarkable book. The author would be saddened to read the chapter summaries...it was as though the writer had forgotten to use standard English rather than common jargon to explain events. I will not purchase another Book Sense product.

This seems sadly amateurish> It feels like it is written by an author with a poor grasp of the English language, often repeating paragraphs and phrases. The plot is weak, and character development weaker.
gripping and emotional read - My Sister's Secret - An addictive :: True Colors: A Novel :: A Novel (Ballantine Reader's Circle) - On Mystic Lake :: Magic Hour: A Novel :: The Things We Do for Love: A Novel

“The Nightingale” by Kristin Hannah is a compelling story set in 1939 France. As Paris is taking a beating from Nazi occupation, the idyllic village Carriveau is getting ready to change forever. Warplanes, tanks, bombs, and Nazi soldiers have become commonplace. Young wife Vianne Mauiac is married to a newly drafted soldier; but in the meantime, she is obligated to host a Nazi in her home. At the same time, her reckless sister Isabelle has joined the French Resistance, risking everything.

This is another terrific companion summary and analysis from Book*Sense that tackles all the deep details of the original novel and provides a deeper understanding of the book. As with all the companions I’ve read from Book*Sense, this one is well-written and includes a detailed book review, story setting analysis, story element that might have been missed during your reading, characters, chapter-by-chapter summary, a look at themes and symbols, and more.

Personally, I appreciated the character analysis and list of secondary characters, and the examination of the major symbols—something I seem to overlook in most initial readings. For example, in “The Nightingale,” changing seasons are a symbol for life continuing as normal, no matter what.

This was extremely helpful and truly added to the overall enjoyment of the novel.

I cannot believe this book has gotten good reviews. I've only skimmed this book, and I've already found several huge errors!! It states that Isabelle was the elderly lady who is narrating it, looking back on the last 60 years of her life. No, it was Vianne. It says that Sophie died shortly after Isabelle died, and that Sophie died before Julien was born. No, she died when she was much older. It also says that Isabelle "heard" that her father had turned himself in and claimed to be the Nightingale...no, she witnessed it first hand because he did so in front of her! I found many mistakes so far...someone apparently did not check the facts before publishing this! I'm so disappointed. The Nightingale is one of the best books I've ever read in my life, and I was sad when I was done reading it. I was excited to read further into detail. This book is terribly disappointing!

I find books like The Nightingale very difficult to read. There are so many names and plot points to remember, and then you have the characters jumping back and forth in time. I enjoy this kind of plot, but it can be tricky to follow.

That is why I love these analysis books by Book*Sense. They give you a summary of the overall book, a summary of each chapter, and also help you keep important characters straight.

My favorite part are the questions at the end of the synopsis and analysis. They really help me consider all that I’ve read, put it in perspective, and take my understanding of the work to a whole new level. Not only do they ask you to consider the book itself, but also the author, Kristin Hannah.

I recommend these while you are reading the book to help deepen your understanding, as well as to review after you’ve already read the book. Especially if you’re one of those readers who really enjoys taking a critical look at the books you read to help you retain what you’ve read and completely understand it.

This is a fantastic summary and analysis book on The Nightingale by Kristen Hannah.

Kristen Hannah has created a masterpiece with The Nightingale and BOOK*SENSE makes it so much easier to read and understand.
Reading the original i found myself skimming through some of the boring pages and kinda lost where I was, the way I found this out because when having a conversation with my girlfriend about this book by Kristen Hannah and she had no clue what i was talking about. I then downloaded this summary of The Nightingale and saw that i missed most of what the book is about, from the story line to the characters personalities.

Whether you are reading this summary and analysis book to gain a better understanding, using it for an assignment or even to say you have actually read The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah then this is definitely for you!

The Nightingale is a novel that shows how a peaceful village in France becomes a war zone during Nazi occupation. World War II is a topic many of us are familiar with yet author Kristin Hannah's novel tells the story in a new setting. The leads are sisters who come together to survive a horrific experience.

This summary includes chapter analysis which is helpful to review after you've read the book. I notice that I read at a faster pace when enjoying action in a story and miss details. Having a great summary ensures I don't miss any hidden meanings.

If you have a book club and plan to read The Nightingale I highly suggest this summary & analysis. It provides fantastic information and insight that will enhance the experience.

I've always enjoyed books that cover such a fascinating piece of World History as WWII, and Kristin Hannah does so in a unique and artful way in her Novel The Nightingale. With multiple perspectives shared between the two main characters, and a dense ~440 pages of reading, this book is my no means a simple, straightforward read, however.
I appreciated this summary and analysis very much, and besides clearing up confusion between chapters, I was able to enjoy a much richer reading experience because of it. The chapter-by-chapter plot summaries were the most useful to me for this book, although every bit of information is useful. I highly recommend the original novel, and I recommend this companion equally highly.

Good book, kept my attention, learned quite a bit about France during WWII. A bit over the top, with everything that could possibly happen to a woman in the war happening to these two sisters...Sort of Forest Gump-like. However, great character development. K Hannah uses words like watercolors.

Very poorly written...this is full of spelling and grammatical error. I had hoped to use this for some thought provoking questions for our book club. It was obviously written by someone without a lot of depth or forethought. I have had high school students who could have done better. What a waste of time and money!!!
